How to request changes to a worker's Form I-9

During Form I-9 verification, a verifier may notice that the information completed by the employee in Section 1 is incorrect. In this case, verifiers can request that the employee make changes to their Section 1. Per USCIS regulations, it is acceptable for changes to be made to Section 1.

To request changes:

  1. In the left-side navigation, click the dropdown menu

  2. Select the project that you want to view worker Forms I-9 for

  3. In the left-side navigation, click People

  4. On the project’s People dashboard, click on the name of the worker whose Form I-9 you want to review

  5. Scroll down until you see the row for Form I-9 and click the Sign button to open the worker’s Form I-9 page

  6. On the worker’s Form I-9 page, click the Request Changes button

  7. In the Request Changes popup, enter the Reasons for changes

  8. Click the Send button

After you click the Send button, the worker will receive an email with the subject line Please resubmit your I-9 to get paid, from [email protected], and including your Reason for changes message.
