> To update a project worker’s timecard, your account must have one of the following [roles](/v1/docs/roles-permissions) enabled:

## Overview

While you can update a project worker’s timecards at any time, it’s important to note the following:

✅ You can update timecards, including editing in-out times and adding or updating allowances when the timecard has a status of either *Draft* or *Submitted*

✅ You can add allowances to timecards that already have approvals or have been paid

🚫 You cannot add new shifts to a *Paid* timecard

➡️ If you need to add a shift to workweek that has already been paid, you can [create a new timecard for the shift](/v1/docs/how-to-create-a-timecard-for-a-project-worker-utc). Note that the new timecard must be for *different days*—it can’t cover the same days already included on the existing approved timecard for that week.

Under the US Department of Labor, Fair Labor Standards Act, a fixed and recurring period of 168 hours — 7 consecutive 24-hour periods. All hours worked during that fixed period are tallied to determine if the employee has exceeded 40 hours.

By default, Wrapbook establishes a worker's workweek as starting on their first day of employment on the project. This is called a dynamic workweek because not all project workers will necessarily have the same workweek configuration.

Places or properties used on a project (as opposed to a stage or backlot). If using the inside of the structure, this is called an Interior (Int). If filming outside, this is called Exterior (Ext).

A payment that is subject to union pension contributions is called "pensionable." For example, salary earned is pensionable versus a rental or reimbursement paid is not pensionable.
