## Overview

Once a project worker has been invited to the project, you can create a timecard for them from the project’s [Timecards dashboard](/v1/docs/overview-of-the-timecards-dashboard-utc).

## How to create a timecard for a project worker

Production administrators can use the following steps to create a timecard for a project worker:

1. At the top of the project’s *Timecards* dashboard, click the **+ Create timecard** button
2. In the *Create timecard* drawer on the right-side of the screen, use the search bar and the filters to find the project worker that you want to create a timecard for
  - You can search by worker:
    - *Name*
    - *Title*
    - *Department*
  - You can click the filter buttons to display project workers by:
    - *Week ending*
    - *Show* - *All workers, Workers with timecards, Workers without timecards*
    - *Union* - The options displayed depend on what’s been set in the *Project settings/Unions, guilds, and health plans*
    - *Department*
    - *Job title*
3. Once you’ve found the worker, click the **Create** button next to their name
4. Click on the fields to enter the project worker’s information and time worked. To learn more, see [Using the admin view of a project worker's timecard](/v1/docs/the-admin-view-of-a-project-workers-timecard).

## Keeping wages and allowances on separate timecards

In the *New Timecards Experience*, a project worker's wages and allowances appear together on a single timecard. If your company prefers to keep wages and allowances separate for tracking or review purposes, you can create two timecards for the same worker for the same workweek — one for wages and one for allowances only.

To do this:

1. Follow [the steps above](/v1/docs/how-to-create-a-timecard-for-a-project-worker-utc#how-to-create-a-timecard-for-a-project-worker) to create a first timecard for the worker and enter their time worked
2. Then, repeat the process to **create a second timecard for the same worker and workweek**. On the second timecard, **leave the wages grid blank** and use it solely to [add the worker's allowances](/v1/docs/add-an-allowance-to-a-project-workers-timecard#how-to-add-an-allowance).

**Notes:**

- Only authorized company team members can create multiple timecards for a worker in the same workweek. Project workers cannot create more than one timecard per workweek.
- Both timecards will appear on the project's Timecards dashboard and will need to be submitted and approved separately

Under the US Department of Labor, Fair Labor Standards Act, a fixed and recurring period of 168 hours — 7 consecutive 24-hour periods. All hours worked during that fixed period are tallied to determine if the employee has exceeded 40 hours.

By default, Wrapbook establishes a worker's workweek as starting on their first day of employment on the project. This is called a dynamic workweek because not all project workers will necessarily have the same workweek configuration.
