# Duplicate a project

> [!NOTE]
> Duplicating a project is permission based
>
> To duplicate a project, your account must have one of the following [roles](/v1/docs/permissions-and-access-control) enabled:
>
> - Role: *Company Admin, Company Manager*
> - Custom role with: *Project management* - *Full access*

## Overview

You can save time creating a new project by duplicating an existing project on your company’s *All Projects* dashboard.

- Projects in any status (*Active, Wrapped, Draft*) can be duplicated
- You’ll be able to review and update the settings that have been copied over to the new project before completing project setup

## Details that are duplicated

When you duplicate a project, the following details from the project’s settings will be copied over to the new project:

- *Project details*
- *Workers’ compensation*
- *Unions, guilds & health plans*
- *Payroll*
- *Paid sick leave*
- *Accounting tools*

## **Details that aren’t duplicated**

The following details won’t be copied over, so you’ll need to enter them manually:

- Project name
- Project start date, project end date & shoot days
- Project number

## **To duplicate a project**

1. In the left left-side navigation, click the dropdown menu and select **All projects**
2. On the *All projects* dashboard, click the three dots next to the project that you want to copy
3. Click **Duplicate**
4. In the popup, enter a new *Project name, Project start date,* and *Project end date*. If your company uses project numbers for internal tracking, you can enter that too.
5. Click the **Create** button

- The *Project details* page for the new project will open and you’ll be prompted to review the details that have been copied over
- From here, you can either save the project as a *Draft* by clicking the **Finish setup later** button, or click **Save & continue** to confirm the project’s details. You must review and save each step in order to fully complete project setup.

## **To complete set up of a Draft project**

1. To finish setup, make sure that the project draft is selected in the dropdown menu at the top of the left-side navigation
2. On the project dashboard, in the *Welcome to your new project* section, click on each of the remaining setup tasks to update/confirm project details
3. Once you’ve confirmed all the project’s details are correct, click the **Complete setup** button to change the project’s status from *Draft* to *Active*
